Become an Organic Farmer!

Learn through hands-on experience as a Summer Apprentice at EarthDance Organic Farm School in Ferguson, Missouri!

Are you passionate about organic and urban agriculture and the food justice movement? Do you want to immerse yourself in learning organic farming and gardening techniques and walk away feeling confident in growing produce for yourself and others?

If so, you may be the perfect fit for EarthDance’s Summer Apprenticeship! This full-time 10-week paid AmeriCorps program is designed for those with a strong interest in farming who want to fully engage themselves in the day-to-day operations of an organic farm. Learn every step of the organic farming process through hands-on experience in the fields.

Summer Apprentices will be immersed in all areas of crop production at EarthDance. This includes greenhouse seeding and propagation, sowing and transplanting, preparing fields for planting, crop cultivation and maintenance, disease and pest control, harvesting, washing and packing produce, and sharing it with community members at the Ferguson Farmers Market and our Pay What You Can Farm Stand.

By the end of the 10-week term, Summer Apprentices will be equipped with the knowledge and skill set to work entry level positions in the agricultural industry and/or start a small scale food production operation like a community or school garden.

THIS IS A PAID APPRENTICESHIP! EarthDance Summer Apprentices receive an AmeriCorps VISTA living stipend of $675 every 2 weeks during their 10 week apprenticeship for a total of $3,375. Additionally, apprentices are eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award worth $1,374 at the completion of their service term, to be used towards education expenses.
