Meet Stephanie Jansing, EarthDance’s New Assistant Farm Manager!

Stephanie Jansing has always had a unique passion for healthy food.  In high school she was often credited as having the best lunches, and during her college years she received many a strange look from roommates as she grated carrots into her morning bowl of oatmeal.

Stephanie moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to St. Louis to attend St. Louis University, where she majored in Nutrition and Dietetics, and eventually became a Registered Dietitian.  Shortly after graduating from SLU, Stephanie became a “Freshman Farmy” during Earthdance’s inaugural season.  It was this initial experience with Earthdance that started Stephanie down the path toward a career in farming.

After a few attempts to leave the Midwest for good, including a cross country bike ride, a stint on a blueberry farm on Vancouver Island, BC, and an apprenticeship on an organic farm in Montana, Stephanie couldn’t ignore her fond feelings for St. Louis any longer.  She and her husband Josh moved back to St. Louis eager to continue their involvement with the agriculture community in the region, beginning with a season of apprenticing at Three Rivers Community Farm in Elsah, IL.

Stephanie is eager to have the chance to teach and farm with Earthdance, the very organization that planted that initial seed within her.  She hopes to inspire more people to add a little carrot to their bowl of oatmeal!
