EarthDance Volunteer Spotlight

Since joining EarthDance in August of this year, I have been blown away by the passion, dedication, and generosity of our volunteers. From large, corporate groups to enthusiastic individuals, these service hours add up quickly! So far this year volunteers have contributed over a thousand individual work hours. And I’m sure that number is actually much higher. One thousand, no, ONE MILLION THANK YOUs!

These busy bees have aided EarthDance in every possible way: harvesting food for our community, weeding beds for more happy, healthy, and productive fields, washing dishes and doing laundry, mowing, fixing equipment, building chicken coops, graphic design work, building a beautiful stone wall, helping make EarthDance events fantastic, taking care of our livestock, and dozens of other tasks, small and large. All these hands working together not only support EarthDance Organic Farm School, but build strong and vibrant communities. In the past few months, I have seen strangers blossom into friends, teams grow stronger, and lasting networks woven together through our shared stake in the good food movement. Plus, working outside together is really, really fun. Where else can you rub radishes, feed chickens, eat tomatoes right off the vine, make terribles puns, share life histories, talk old movies, laugh, smile and sing all in one afternoon besides EarthDance?

As the weather turns cooler and fall crops grow into abundance, there is still much work to be done. And one of our biggest events is coming next month! On November 14th we will be throwing our annual fundraiser, Farmer’s Formal. This event will be a stunning night of music, food, dancing, auctions and even a pie parade! But we need a group of awesome volunteers to make it happen. Will you join us for this “farm-rasier? You could be a pie model! Or an auctioneer’s assistant. Perhaps maybe you’re a behind-the-scenes superstar. Maybe you just love EarthDance. Whatever your talent, passion or interest we would love to have you! More information will be coming in the next few weeks, but shoot me an e-mail (volunteer@earthdancefarms.org) or ring me at the EarthDance office (314.521.1006) if you’re ready to experience a night of generosity, high-fives, laughter and fun!

See you on the farm soon!
