Dave Matthews Band feasts on EarthDance

Dave Matthews Band and crew enjoyed EarthDance veggies before their show in St. Louis on June 16th! EarthDance potatoes and sugar snap peas were among the veggies served backstage to the Dave Matthews Band and crew during lunch and dinner at their recent Verizon Wireless Amphitheater show.

Reverb, an environmental organization that helps to “green” the music industry by lowering the eco-impact of touring bands, is working with Dave Matthews Band this summer to green their tour! Part of that includes sourcing local and organic produce for the DMB caterer who prepares about 250 meals on any given show day. EarthDance was contacted by Reverb the week before the DMB concert in St. Louis to see what we could offer, and Fiona, their caterer, requested potatoes, green beans, sorrel, edible flowers, turnip greens, sugar snap peas, onions and cilantro! What makes the experience even more exciting is that Dave Matthews is on the board of Farm Aid, one of our wonderful supporters and funders! We also learned that Dave has purchased a farm in his home state of Virginia to keep it from being developed into “mini-mansions”, and now has folks growing organic food on it… in case you weren’t already a big DMB fan!
