Tera Schmidt

Tera Schmidt was lucky to be raised in the good food movement; she grew up on a small-scale family homestead. She enrolled in the EarthDance Apprenticeship wanting to learn more about the commercial side of farming. Tera’s dream of being a farmer quickly became a reality after she completed the program. She helped her childhood family farm blossom to a full-blown small-farm operation with the help of her parents and siblings. Grubville Farm, named after the Missouri town the farm sprouted in, commercialized in 2013. They are growing produce for CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), restaurants, and individual buyers, all on 1/8th of an acre. Her advice to future farmies?: “Stick to it…it’s gonna be hard, it’s gonna be trying, but it’ll be worth it, for sure.”
