Amaya Carrasco, Class of 2017. During Amaya’s time in St. Louis, she got deeply involved with the local farming and gardening movement, beginning with an apprenticeship at EarthDance, and she became inspired to start something similar to EarthDance in her home country of Ecuador. With work deeply rooted in food systems, Amaya co-founded Caliata, an organization in Ecuador where their primary goal is to enhance agroecological knowledge and strengthen indigenous food systems through community-led work in Africa and South America.
