Junior Farm Crew

The Junior Farm Crew is EarthDance’s summer jobs program for youth ages 16-19 from the Ferguson-Florissant area.  The program operates for 8 weeks in the summer. Currently, EarthDance partners with STL Youth Jobs to cost-share a stipend of $9/hr for crew members.

Junior Farm Crew members gain skills in the following areas:

  • Basic farm work, such as planting, weeding, and harvesting vegetables
  • Landscaping
  • Public speaking
  • Community outreach as an EarthDance representative at special events
  • Preparing healthy meals & snacks
  • Participating in workshops about our food system
  • Personal development, teamwork, and leadership
  • Participation in researching the community food system

 

Who should apply (applicants should meet all criteria)

  • Young people with a strong interest in working outside, gaining job experience, and learning about farming
  • Ages 16-19
  • Ferguson-Florissant residents
  • Applicants willing to participate in a family income screening process
