Note from the Founder

By Molly Rockamann, Founding Director

“So what do you all do now that the season is over?” is a question I get asked frequently this time of year. As an Organic Farm School, while our outdoor work slows down during the winter months, our indoor work doesn’t. Our farmers are still cultivating frost-hardy vegetables in our high tunnels all winter long, and our entire team is engaged in outreach and planning all winter long. Whether it’s letting more St. Louisans know about the transformative educational opportunity we offer with the Farm & Garden Apprenticeship program, connecting with our program partners like STL Youth Jobs and Yoga Buzz, spreading the word about a way to support EarthDance on January 11th, or carrying out focus groups with local Ferguson residents to better understand our community’s food needs, the work of changing our food system is never done. We do try to allow ourselves a bit more rest this time of year, so we’ll close our office operations and our farm sitter will be tending to the chickens and farmhouse office from Dec 24 – Jan 1. But before that week comes, our Board and staff will be engaged in an exciting new strategic planning process for our organization. We’ve enlisted the help of a permaculture designer and social change agent to facilitate a strategic planning process that incorporates our values and help us create a roadmap for EarthDance for the next 3 years. We’ll be sure to keep you all posted as we progress with this planning!

In the meantime, did you know we are hiring?

If you know someone with experience in grants, development, and fundraising, and a passion for the good food movement, please let them know! You can also share the Grants & Development Officer job posting on social media or via email by sharing this link. Thank you in advance for your help in spreading the word!

Rooted in Ferguson,

Molly
