Summer Junior Farm Crew Applications now OPEN!

Do you know any amazing Ferguson/Florissant  high school students and recent graduates who have an interest in working outdoors, farming & gardening, fresh food, cooking, and health?

EarthDance Organic Farm School is now accepting applications from local high school students and recent graduates for our Junior Farm Crew (JFC) this summer!  EarthDance will hire 8 young adults for jobs at the farm. Work shifts will take place M-F, 8am-12pm beginning on Monday, June 12th, and ending Friday, August 4th, 2017.


Junior Farm Crew members will gain skills in the following areas:

  • Basic farm work, such as planting, weeding, and harvesting vegetables
  • Landscaping
  • Public speaking
  • Community outreach as an EarthDance representative at special events
  • Preparing healthy meals & snacks
  • Participating in workshops about our food system
  • Personal development, teamwork, and leadership
  • Participation in researching the community food system
  • Opportunity to visit Dancing Rabbit eco-village in Rutledge, Missouri

The Junior Farm Crew is a part of EarthDance’s YEAH! (Youth Exploring Agriculture and Health) Program. YEAH! provides young people with the opportunity to connect to nature, healthy food, and personal growth through learning and employment on an organic farm.  The Junior Farm Crew will be led by James Young, a graduate of EarthDance’s Farm & Garden Apprenticeship Program and Ferguson-Florissant teacher.


Members of the Junior Farm Crew will earn $8/hr.


Who should apply (applicants should meet all criteria)

  • Young people with a strong interest in working outside, gaining job experience, and learning about farming
  • Ages 16-19
  • Ferguson-Florissant residents
  • Applicants able to commit to working daily, M-F, throughout the program
  • Applicants willing to participate in a family income screening process

Make sure to complete parts 1 and 2. Please drop off part 2 of your application no later than Friday, April 28th at EarthDance’s office located at 233 S. Dade Avenue, Ferguson, 63135 between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm, Monday – Friday.


Important Dates:


  • April 28th  – All completed applications due at EarthDance office
  • May 3rd – Introduction to EarthDance Working interview on the farm
  • May 17th – Group Interview on the farm


  • June 12th – First day of work for Summer Junior Farm Crew
  • July 10-12- 3 Day Field Trip to Dancing Rabbit Eco Village
  • Aug 5th –  Final day of work for Summer Junior Farm Crew
